MLS side CF Montreal announced Thursday morning that they would be parting ways with head coach Hernan Losada after only one season with the club.
In a press release the club remarked “Following the evaluation of the season, it was determined that this decision is optimal for the Club for the 2024 and subsequent seasons. Assistant coach Sebastián Setti has also been relieved of his duties. The Club would like to thank Hernán and Sebastián for their contributions over the past year. The selection process for the next head coach for the 2024 season is underway.”
1 year removed from posting a 20-5-9 record, good for 2nd in the Eastern Conference, Montreal regressed in 2023, going 12-5-17 and missing the playoffs in 2023. Losada took over the team from Wilfried Nancy who helped guide the club to the playoffs in 2022. Nancy departed in the offseason to join the Columbus Crew.
The Argentinian previously spent time with Belgian side K Beerschot VA, before joining the MLS ranks with D.C. United from 2021-2022. Losada was in the first year of a two year contract with an option for a third season.
This now marks the 2nd consecutive season in which Montreal will be looking for a new manager.
