Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown has a partial tear in his right meniscus per multiple reports. The injury is one that Brown played through during the final month of the regular season and throughout the playoffs.
Several media outlets had previously reported that Brown received pain injections in his knee beginning in March. The 28 year old will travel back to Boston this week for additional imaging to determine whether he will require surgery.
Following his team’s elimination vs. the New York Knicks, Brown told reporters “I don’t make excuses…Obviously, it’s tough the way we went out like tonight, but the way we finished the year, personally, the way I finished the year, persevering through some physical stuff that I was battling through, I’m proud of our group.”
Throughout the playoffs, the former 3rd overall pick averaged 22.1 points and 7.1 rebounds in 36.5 minutes per game.
Boston was hampered by injuries in their series vs. New York. Not only was Brown compromised, but Kristaps Porzingis was also dealing with an illness for the last several weeks. Leading scorer Jayson Tatum suffered a torn Achilles tendon which required surgery, leading to the team’s eventual elimination in six games.
Depending on the severity of the injury, Brown could be sidelined anywhere from a few weeks, up to six months.
