Ronald Acuna Jr. Hits IL With Hamstring Issue

Atlanta Braves star outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to a strained left hamstring the team announced Sunday.

The injury appears to be a Grade-1 level strain, which stems from Saturday’s game vs. the Rockies in the second inning. Acuna pulled up trying to beat out a ground ball to first base, and grabbed at his left hamstring area.

It’s the latest setback in what’s been a frustrating past two seasons for the 28 year right fielder. After tearing his ACL in May of 2024, Acuna has been limited to a combined 144 games over the last two calendar years.

When healthy, he’s amongst the most electrifying players in the sport. However, Acuna has dealt with a variety of nagging injuries since winning the NL MVP back in 2023. Currently hitting .252 with 2 home runs, and a team high 7 stolen bases, the right handed bat now figures to miss a good chunk of May as he gets back to full health.

In a corresponding move, the team recalled Jose Azocar on their Major League roster. Atlanta did however get a bit of good news on the weekend, as starting pitcher Spencer Strider is set to make his season debut on Sunday against the Rockies after rehabbing an oblique injury.

The RHP looked sharp in his minor league appearances, eventually building up to 82 pitches and five innings of work in his most recent outing. Atlanta currently sits atop the NL East with a commanding 7.5 game lead over second place Miami as both the Mets and Phillies have stumbled out of the gates in 2026.
