Jets Sign RB Breece Hall To Multi-Year Extension

The New York Jets and running back Breece Hall have agreed to a three-year, $43.5M contract Friday that can be worth up to $45.75M. The deal avoids a potential hold out after the team placed the franchise tag on Hall earlier this offseason. It will also feature $29M in guaranteed money.

The deal will average out to $14.5M per year, ranking fourth amongst running backs trailing Saquon Barkley ($20.6M), Christian McCaffrey ($19M) and Derrick Henry ($15M).

“Cried for the first time since I tore my ACL. This day really hit different for me man,” Hall said in a social media post on Friday.

The pact was a surprising one as many executives around the league assumed that the 24 year old would play out the season on the franchise tag. Hall was outspoken about the direction of the team in the lead up to last year’s trade deadline, as insiders believed the would be dealt in 2025.

A deal never materialized, though reports suggested a potential trade to Kansas City was nearly completed. This led to reports of a potential offseason trade, but instead fans of Gang Green will now get to see another 3 years of Hall in the team’s backfield.

The former second round pick from 2022 has lived through multiple tough seasons in New York. The team sports a 22-46 record since he came to town and has also seen three different head coaches. The team still hasn’t solved their quarterback problem, opting instead to address other areas of need on their roster first and circle back to QB in 2027. The front office used first-round picks on tight end Kenyon Sadiq and wide receiver Omar Cooper, Jr., meaning that Hall and WR Garrett Wilson should at least have some help on that side of the ball in 2026.
