Former star receiver Demaryius Thomas was found dead at his Roswell, GA residence at approximately 7pm Thursday evening. Thomas was reportedly discovered in the shower by authorities who were responding to a call for someone suffering cardiac arrest. The former Denver Broncos WR was pronounced deceased on the scene.

While an autopsy was scheduled for Friday, no further details as to what the cause of death may have been were made available. Foul play is currently not suspected, though more will be known once the autopsy is completed. Thomas was only 33 years old.

The outpouring of support and condolences from around the football world has been swift and far reaching. Thomas’ former team, the Denver Broncos will be sporting DT helmet decals this weekend for their game against the Detroit Lions, while also hosting a pre-game video tribute in his honour as well.

Addressing the media earlier today, head coach Vic Fangio stated “There’s still 10 players on this team that played with [Thomas], a bunch of coaches that coached him…And we’ve got over 40 workers in the organization and the support staff that were around him. And just seeing and feeling their reaction and hurt just tells me what a special player DT was.”

In 143 NFL games, Thomas posted 724 receptions for 9763yds and 63TDs. A four time Pro Bowler, Thomas was part of the Broncos’ Super Bowl 50 winning team. To this day, Thomas still holds or shares 16 different Denver franchise records including the single season receiving yards, and receiving TD marks.

The former Georgia Tech star also had brief stints with the New York Jets, New England Patriots, and Houston Texans. Thomas was involved in a car crash in 2019 which reportedly caused a variety of medical issues which authorities are exploring as possible causes of death at the moment.

Thomas would have been 34 years old on Christmas Day this year.
