Kylian Mbappe Sues Paris Saint-Germain For Harassment

According to the Paris prosecutor’s office, Kylian Mbappe has accused Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain for “moral harassment and attempted extortion of a signature” in a new legal filing.

Mbappe and his former club have been at odds over what the Real Madrid star says is upwards of $61M in unpaid wages, and intentional “lofting” that took place during the 2023-24 season. In France, the term lofting refers to a practice in which a sports club isolates a player from the main squad for sporting, administrative or disciplinary reasons.

The 26 year old alleges that PSG intentionally sanctioned him following his decision not to extend his contract with the French powerhouse.

A rough timeline of events supports the notion of a contentious relationship between the club and their homegrown star. After informing management that he would not be picking up his player option, Mbappe was left off the squad for a preseason tour of South Korea and Japan, and forced to train away from the first team.

He was then also held out of the first league game of the season for reasons that differ depending on which camp you ask, before subsequently returning to action.

News of the lawsuit doesn’t come as a surprise, as the forward’s legal team indicated in April that they would be taking action against his former club. According to reports from Le Parisien, a pair of investigators have been appointed to conduct a thorough evaluation of PSG’s treatment of their former star player.

The case has now been handed over to the Brigade for the Repression of Crimes Against Persons (BRDP).
