Kelsey Mitchell Sets WNBA Record For Consecutive 20+ Point Games

The Indiana Fever dropped a hotly contested matchup against the Dallas Wings 91-85 on Thursday, ending their 5 game winning streak. However, guard Kelsey Mitchell set a new WNBA record for consecutive games with at least 20 points in the process with her season high 37 point output.

The previous mark was held by Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson who set the record back in June of 2024. Mitchell wasted little time in setting the new benchmark, scoring 21 points before halftime.

“I just want to, you know, congratulate my team for making me look good,” Mitchell said. “But I think ultimately it just comes down, obviously, to work. But I don’t really take statistics really that serious. So a lot of this stuff is really circumstantial to me. So I [want] to get the dub, and we didn’t get that. So I think keep my focus on the right thing, keeping the main thing the main thing is important.”

When all was said and done, the dynamic guard finished with 37 points, 5 assists, a steal, and a rebound on 9 of 18 shooting. She also made all 15 of her free throws on the night, becoming just the 5th player in league history to shoot 100% from the charity stripe on 15+ attempts.

From a franchise perspective, the 30 year old also broke her own Indiana Fever record for most points in a single season, dropping 912 points and counting thus far. With 7 games to go on the year, it’s almost a lock at this point to see Mitchell hit the 1,000 point plateau for the first time in her 9 year WNBA career.

Currently averaging a career best 24.6pts per game, Mitchell trails only the aforementioned A’ja Wilson in terms of points per game on the season, firmly entrenching herself in the MVP debate.

Indiana will now have back to back games on Saturday and Sunday against the Liberty and Sky respectively. They’ll need to get back into the win column if they hope to keep pace with Aces who overtook them for the 3rd seed following a 101-78 victory over the Sun.
