A pair of football pants, worn by quarterback Tom Brady in his final NFL game, sold at auction for $89,100 recently.
The game worn pants were used in the NFC Wildcard round during Brady’s final season with Tampa Bay in January of 2023. The price tag officially makes them the most expensive pair of football pants ever sold on the secondary market publicly.
According to Grey Flannel Auctions, the auction house which brokered the deal, the sum puts Brady 3rd all-time on the “game worn pants” list. Both spots ahead of him belong to Babe Ruth, who saw two pairs of his pants fetch $90K at auction in 2014, while a pair from his 1921 season brought in $183,500 back in 2012.
“The record-breaking sale was a testament to the legacy of an icon,” Michael Russek of Grey Flannel told reporters. “The passion of collectors never ceases to amaze me.”
The sale also gives Brady both the NFL game worn pants and jersey record, after the jersey from his final game sold for a record setting $1.39M at auction last November.
