New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson is expected to miss multiple weeks with a high ankle sprain suffered in his team’s victory over Las Vegas on the weekend.
Henderson went down in the second quarter after being tackled by safety Jeremy Chinn, and could be seen limping on the sidelines shortly thereafter. With the game well in hand in the second half, the team turned to Corey Kiner and Rhamondre Stevenson to handle the groundwork in the team’s lopsided 45-17 win.
While the team won’t have a definitive timeline for Henderson’s return until they see how his ankle responds to treatment, they did confirm that the 23 year old will not require surgery. No moves have officially been announced as of yet, but it’s expected that the team will elevate Lan Larison from the team’s practice squad to serve as a depth back moving forward.
It’s the second ankle injury in a month for Henderson who also missed the team’s season opener. After rushing for 911 yards and 9 TDs in his rookie campaign, the former Ohio State standout has had a slower start to his sophomore campaign. His yards per attempt has dropped from 5.1 to 3.9, while his receiving yards per game has also dipped from 13 to 5.5.
The Patriots offence as a whole has looked slightly disjointed thus far in 2026, with QB Drake Maye oscillating between extremely effective and borderline unplayable in the early going. New England (3-2) currently sit in second place in the AFC East and will play host to the rival Jets on Sunday October 18th at 1pm ET.
