Hockey Canada Reveals Women’s World Championship Roster

   Hockey Canada has revealed their 23 player roster that will compete at the 2023 Women’s World Championships April 5-16th in Brampton, ON.

   “Our staff had some very difficult decisions selecting this roster and that speaks to the depth that we have within our program,” said head coach Troy Ryan. “We are confident that we have assembled a talented roster with a great deal of character and leadership. Our entire staff is excited to have the opportunity to work with each of these athletes as we begin this journey toward a World Championship.”

   Director of hockey operations Gina Kingsbury added “It is special to host women’s worlds in Canada and welcome the nine other competing federations while showcasing the talent and class of competition in our game. We know the atmosphere in Brampton will be electric and we are excited for the chance to go for gold next month.”

   10 teams will compete for gold over the course of the two week event. Canada, USA, Czechia, Japan and Switzerland make up Group A, while Finland, Sweden, France, Germany, and Hungary round out Group B for the event.

   Head coach Troy Ryan will be joined by assistant coaches Kori Cheverie, Doug Derraugh, Rachel Flanagan and Caroline Ouellette as well as goaltending consultant Brad Kirkwood. 

   Team Canada will be well represented by Captain Canada Marie-Philip Poulin, alongside 17 others who helped win gold at last year’s event. The 2023 roster is as follows:

Forwards: Emily Clark, Sarah Fillier, Brianne Jenner, Rebecca Johnston, Emma Maltais, Sarah Nurse, Kristin O’Neill, Marie-Philip Poulin, Jamie Lee Rattray, Danielle Serdachny, Natalie Spooner, Laura Stacey, Blayre Turnbull

Defense: Erin Ambrose, Jaime Bourbonnais, Renata Fast, Jocelyne Larocque, Ella Shelton, Claire Thompson, Micah Zandee-Hart

Goaltenders: Kristen Campbell, Ann-Renee Desbiens, Emerance Maschmeyer
