Veteran forward Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors have come to terms on a 1 year, $27.7M deal to reunite for the 2026-27 NBA season.
Green had previously turned down his $27.6M player option for this season prior to free agency in an effort to give the Warriors additional financial flexibility. After the team failed to land either Jaylen Brown or LeBron James, the two sides re-engaged on a deal that made sense for both parties.
The 14 year veteran has spent the entirety of his career with the Warriors, helping them win 4x NBA championships during that span. Originally drafted 35th overall out of Michigan State back in 2012, Green would go on to earn 4x All-Star selections, along with an NBA Defensive Player of the Year award in 2017.
The 36 year old has seen his production dip over the last several seasons, finishing with a 8.4pts/5.5reb/5.5ast stat line across 68 games for Golden State last season. Nevertheless, Green has always added to the team in ways that go beyond the box score, and has recently expressed a willingness to come off the bench if that is what head coach Steve Kerr needs from him this year.
Green and the Warriors have the second longest active run for a single player and franchise in the NBA at the moment trailing only teammate Stephen Curry who will be set to begin his 18th season with Golden State this fall.
