Manchester United Reach Deal With Michael Carrick

Manchester United and interim coach Michael Carrick have reportedly come to terms on a 2 year deal, with an option for a 3rd season. While the United brass have yet to officially confirm the announcement, sources indicate that the two sides are in agreement on the overall structure and compensation package.

Carrick’s representatives have been in Manchester all week hammering out the fine print of the contract, with the hope that the club can make the announcement official prior to the team’s final home game on Sunday.

The 44 year old has helped turn around a Red Devils squad that struggled with consistency throughout much of the 2025-26 campaign. Carrick has guided the team to 10 victories and 3 draws in their last 15 contests to climb to 3rd place on the Premier League table.

During that span, the former United midfielder has earned victories against Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea. As a result, they’ve clinched a Champions League spot for next season which should come with a roughly £100m boost to the club’s bottom line as well.

“The future for me is going to be decided pretty soon,” Carrick told the media on Friday.

“We knew that was going to be towards the end of the season, if not the end of the season, so nothing’s changed. There’s no big swing on that. Obviously whatever’s beyond that is pretty close around the corner anyway.”

The Red Devils play host to Nottingham Forest on Sunday, where traditionally the team’s manager would address the home side supporters following the contest. The goal would appear to be to have a deal in place prior to the two sides taking the field tomorrow.
