John Harbaugh Out As Coach Of Ravens

According to Adam Schefter, longtime Baltimore Ravens head coach, John Harbaugh, has been relieved of his duties on Tuesday.

News of the breakup comes on the heels of Baltimore’s 26-24 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, which eliminated them from postseason contention. The loss marked the first time the Ravens won’t be in the playoffs since 2021.

The 63 year old was in charge of Baltimore for the past 18 seasons, and was the 2nd longest tenured coach in the league, trailing only Mike Tomlin in Pittsburgh. His 193 career wins rank him 12th all time on the wins list for head coaches in NFL history.

Across the nearly two decade relationship, Baltimore posted only 3 losing seasons under Harbaugh. However fan discontent about the on field performance seemed to grow as the season wore on, culminating in a franchise worst 3-6 home record at M&T Bank Stadium where the boo-birds were in full force.

At 8-9, the Ravens were a missed field goal away from reaching the postseason. Now it seems as though the team is ready to begin a new chapter in the post-Harbaugh era. Baltimore has yet to offer an official statement on the firing, but sources indicate that ownership wanted to ensure they were included in the upcoming coach hiring cycle and didn’t want to miss out on quality candidates by dragging their feet this offseason.
