Chargers Running Back Omarion Hampton Hits IR

Chargers Running Back Omarion Hampton Hits IR

The injury bug continues to hit the Los Angeles Chargers as running back Omarion Hampton has been placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury. As a result, he will miss, at a minimum, the team’s next 4 games.

Hampton was injured late in the 3rd quarter vs. the Washington Commanders on Sunday, and was spotted leaving the stadium in a walking boot after the game. The injury comes on the heels of Najee Harris suffering a season ending ruptured Achilles injury in Week 3, making the Chargers RB room even thinner than before.

With both Harris and Hampton on the IR, LA is now left with Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal on their active roster. The club could also call up rookie Amar Johnson who is currently on the Chargers practice squad, or even bring in a veteran free agent running back.

In addition to their running backs dropping like flies, LA is also navigating injuries to Khalil Mack, Joe Alt, and Rashawn Slater.

The Chargers began the season on fire, winning 3 straight divisional games against the Chiefs, Broncos and Raiders, but have since dropped back-to-back games to the lowly Giants and the Commanders as the injuries continued to pile up. Luckily the team has a “get right” game on the horizon as a date with the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, October 12th could do wonders to get the team back on track.
