Anton Khudobin Announces Retirement From NHL

Veteran goaltender Anton Khudobin has announced his retirement from the NHL following a 14 year career spent with 6 different franchises.

Across 260 career NHL games, the Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan native posted a 2.52 GAA and a .916 save percentage. He officially retires with a 114-92-33 record, having spent time with the Minnesota Wild, Boston Bruins, Carolina Hurricanes, Anaheim Ducks, Dallas Stars and Chicago Blackhawks.

Khudobin represented Russia at the World Junior Championships in 2005 and 2006, and was eventually drafted in the 7th round (206th overall) by the Minnesota Wild back in 2004. From there he had stops in the KHL, WHL, ECHL, and AHL before making his NHL debut during the 2009-10 season.

The 39 year old spent the majority of his career as a backup. However, he helped guide the Dallas Stars to the Stanley Cup finals in 2020, appearing in 25 playoff games, while posting a 2.69 GAA and .917 SV%.

Khudobin also appeared in 230 American Hockey League games and 21 Calder Cup Playoff games throughout his career.
