Bruce Bochy Moves Into 6th On All-Time Wins List

With his team’s 1-0 win over the Houston Astros on Thursday night, Rangers manager Bruce Bochy passed Sparky Anderson for sole possession of 6th place on the all-time manager wins list in MLB history.

The 70 year old is currently in his 28th season as a Major League manager, and currently sports a 2,195-2,206 all time win/loss record. Bochy has spent time with Texas, San Diego and San Francisco. He has four World Series titles to his name, three with the Giants and the only one ever for the Rangers two years ago in his return to the dugout. He briefly had a three-season retirement from managing prior to signing on with Texas.

All five managers currently ahead of Bochy on the career wins list, are in the baseball Hall of Fame, which bodes well for the native of Bussac-Foret, France. Next on the list is former Yankees bench boss Joe Torre and his 2,326 career wins. That leaves Bochy 131 wins shy of Torre’s mark, meaning he’d likely need another winning season beyond this one to surpass him.

Connie Mack remains the career leader with 3,731 wins, followed by Tony La Russa, John McGraw and Bobby Cox.

Next up for the Rangers is an 8:05pm ET rematch with the Houston Astros on Friday night.
