Baltimore Ravens Pro Bowl wide receiver Zay Flowers has been ruled out for his team’s wildcard game vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers the team announced Thursday.
“Zay Flowers is not going to be able to make it to the game this week, so he’ll get started again next week,” coach John Harbaugh said Thursday. “We’ll move forward with the guys we have, and we’re excited about the guys we have, which is everybody else.”
Flowers will sit as he continues to deal with a nagging knee injury suffered in Saturday’s regular season finale. The 5’9″ wideout hauled in 74 passes for 1,059 yards and 5 TDs in 2024 to lead all Ravens receivers on the year.
The 22 year old became the first Ravens WR to be named to the Pro Bowl when voting concluded last week, but will need to cheer his team on from the sidelines as he rehabs his right knee.
While Baltimore’s coaching staff has previously said that they don’t believe that the injury will be season ending, there’s a chance that it could be multiple weeks of recovery for the talented pass catcher. With Flowers out of the mix, Baltimore will have to lean on the dynamic rushing attack of Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry, tight ends Isaiah Likely and Mark Andrews, and WR Rashod Bateman against their AFC North foe.
The Ravens split their 2024 series with Pittsburgh defeating the Steelers 34-17 on December 21st at home, but falling 18-16 against their rival on November 17th on the road. The 2024 wildcard round matchup will be contested on Saturday January 11th at 8pm at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.
