Rashid Shaheed Out For Season

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed will reportedly miss the remainder of the 2024 NFL season after undergoing knee surgery.

According to Adam Schefter, Shaheed had surgery in Los Angeles on Thursday to repair his meniscus, which generally carries a four- to six-month recovery timeline. The team expects that the 26 year old will make a full recovery ahead of training camp in 2025.

Shaheed led the Saints with 349 yards and three touchdowns, while also averaging 15.9 yards per return while fielding punts. His injury is the latest in a nightmarish stretch of injuries to key Saints players. WR Chris Olave is out with a concussion, starting center Erik McCoy will miss six to eight weeks following groin surgery, and safety Will Harris (hamstring) was recently placed on IR due to a hamstring injury.

The 2-4 Saints are also without starting quarterback Derek Carr (oblique), guard Cesar Ruiz (knee), tight end Taysom Hill (rib fractures) and linebacker Pete Werner (hamstring).

As a result, the club has turned to rookie QB Spencer Rattler who will lead a depleted wide receiver room into a Thursday night showdown with the Denver Broncos as former head coach Sean Payton makes his return to Louisiana.
