Canadian Midfielder Liam Millar Suffers ACL Injury

Hull City midfielder Liam Millar will miss the remainder of his team’s season after suffering an ACL injury in the club’s 1-1 draw against Burnley.

The 25-year-old from Brampton, ON has won 35 caps for Canada with one goal and three assists, and has appeared in 12 contests for Hull City since signing in the summer. Head coach Tim Walter wasted little time in confirming the injury when speaking to the press.

“He has an ACL [injury]. He’s out for the whole season,” Walter said. “For him, it’s so frustrating — I’m so with him. I was so shocked and him as well…It’s not about the club. It’s not about us, it’s about him. I’m really so sad, feeling with him.”

“It’s not easy this moment but we will give him all the help we can give him. We support him with all our energy.”

Millar took to social media to provide fans with an update on his status in the hours after the match saying “Unfortunately that’s my season over. Never would have wished something like this would have happened but unfortunately sometimes that’s football. I will continue to stay as positive as I can and take the time to improve my self as much as possible, and also to make sure I come back stronger than before.”

Hull City sit middle of the table in the Championship standings with a 3-5-4 record and a -2 goal differential thus far. Losing Millar will do little to help their chances of leapfrogging the 14 other clubs in front of them as the season continues.

The team is next in action against Portsmouth on Saturday November 2nd.
