Kendrick Lamar has been confirmed as the Super Bowl Halftime Show performer for this year’s event in New Orleans on February 9th, 2025.
Lamar, who was chosen by a committee which featured Roc Nation founder Jay-Z, said “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”
“Kendrick is truly a once in a generation artist and performer” Jay-Z said in a statement following the announcement. “His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision,” Jay-Z said. “He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”
In addition to Roc Nation, Emmy winning producer Jesse Collins will serve as co-executive producer for the halftime show.
The 17 time Grammy award winning artist has seen both critical, and commercial success since his debut album in 2012. However, his recent highly publicized beef with fellow artist Drake saw a resurgence in interest in his catalogue of hits on streaming services, while his diss track “Not Like Us” was arguably the song of the summer in the hip-hop community.
