BC Lions quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. appears to have avoided any kind of long term injury following his team’s 25-0 loss to Winnipeg on Thursday. Adams is currently considered week-to-week and will be monitored heading into the team’s August 11th game vs. Edmonton.
The 31 year old QB went down in the 4th quarter, ultimately being replaced by backup Jake Dolegala. At the time, it appeared as though Adams tweaked his right knee, as the QB was seen favouring it on the sidelines.
Head coach Rick Campbell clarified that “After being further evaluated by our team physicians this morning, it has been confirmed that Vernon’s injury is not long-term and that he is out week-to-week.”
The American QB wound up being carted off the field after the game out of an abundance of caution, leading many to speculate that the injury could be a season ender.
Fortunately for Adams and BC fans alike, it appears as though the veteran signal caller escaped without any major injuries, though the club may opt to play it safe and have Dolegala take snaps against the 0-7 Elks.
Across 8 games for the Lions this year, Adams has thrown for 2,469 yards to go along with 14 TDs. BC currently sits 2nd in the West with a 5-3 record, though they’ve now dropped two games in a row after Thursday’s lopsided affair.
