The New Jersey Devils completed a busy Thursday of hirings which includes a trio of familiar names to the club’s front office group.
Joining the team for the 2024-25 season are Chuck Fletcher (Senior Advisor to the President), Andy Greene (Hockey Operations Advisor), and Manny Legace (Head Amateur Goaltending Scout/Development Coach).
Fletcher joins New Jersey after serving as the General Manager of the Philadelphia Flyers from 2018-2023. Prior to that he also held the position of GM with the Minnesota Wild from 2009-2018. The veteran executive is familiar with Devils President/GM Tom Fitzgerald after having worked together with the Pittsburgh Penguins organization back in the early 2000’s.
Greene’s hiring formalizes what had previously been a loose arrangement with the club where he spent 14 years of his NHL career. The former Devils captain had been assisting the Devils as his schedule permitted in a variety of roles, but will now take on a more structured position in the team’s front office.
Meanwhile, Legace will work closely with Executive Vice President Martin Brodeur to help oversee the development of the team’s goaltenders. The 51 year previously served as a Goaltending Coach with the Columbus Blue Jackets from 2018-2023.
But the hirings didn’t stop there in the Garden State. The team also announced 9 additional hirings for a variety of positions within the Devils ecosystem.
Per the team’s official press release, New Jersey welcomed the following individuals to its ranks:
- Mike Rooney and Mike Yandle have been hired as Amateur Scouts.
- Geoff Sanderson has joined the club as a Pro Scout.
- Ryan Fitzgerald has been named S. College Scout.
- Corey Dietze has been hired as Physical Therapist / Assistant Athletic Trainer.
- Angelo Serse has joined the club as Skating Coach.
- Katie Davis has been named Director, Athlete Care for the Utica Comets (AHL) having previously served as Physical Therapist / Assistant Athletic Trainer for New Jersey.
- Bobby Juliano has been appointed Assistant Equipment Manager in New Jersey after spending last season as Assistant Equipment Manager in Utica.
- Aaron Hoffmeyer has been hired as Assistant Athletic Trainer in Utica.
After finishing 38-39-5 in 2023-24, the Devils have been active this offseason tinkering not only with their roster, but also with their AHL & NHL support staff in an effort to reach the postseason this upcoming season.
