A game worn jersey from the infamous game in which Kobe Bryant tore his Achilles tendon in 2013 has sold at auction for $1.2M.
The jersey, which was photo matched to the April 12th, 2013 game vs. the Golden State Warriors is far from the most expensive Bryant jersey ever sold, however it represents a pivotal moment from the superstar’s career, making it a sought after collectible on the secondary market.
Sportico’s Dylan Manfre confirmed that the jersey was a match to the one worn in the 118-116 Lakers victory. “The signed 2013 Bryant jersey was photo-matched by memorabilia authentication company MeiGray and features the NBA logoman patch and a purple circle patch with the letters “JB” honoring late Lakers owner Jerry Buss, who died in February 2013,” Manfre wrote.
Following an arduous rehab process, Bryant would return for another 107 NBA appearances, but was never the same following the injury.
The jersey was sold to an anonymous bidder via Goldin Auctions last month. The all-time record for a game worn Bryant jersey was $5.8M back in 2023, which was brokered by famed auction house Sotheby’s.
