NBA All-Star weekend is headed to the desert in 2027. NBA commissioner Adam Silver and Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia made the announcement at a press conference Thursday awarding the midseason showcase to the Suns following stops in San Francisco (2025) and Los Angeles (2026).
“We know what kind of show we want to put on,” Ishbia said. “The NBA always does an amazing job. It’s a whole weekend of festivities and you could even argue a week of festivities. And we’re excited. We have a couple years to prepare for it, and we’ll keep getting better and better. We did it in 2009 here, but we’re really going to piggyback off what a great job Indiana did.”
“And I’m sure Golden State will do a great job and the Clippers will do a great job and we’re going to piggyback off that. But we want to make it special. And one thing that those places don’t have is they don’t have Phoenix.”
2027 will mark the city’s fourth NBA All-Star, having previously hosted the event in 1975, 1995 and 2009. It will also be the 2nd major basketball event taking place at the Footprint Center in the near future as the 2024 edition of the WNBA All-Star game is also slated to be held in Phoenix.
“This is an incredibly desirable location,” Adam Silver said. “People love to be here. I think when we are here, both in the summer for the WNBA All-Star Game and then for the NBA All-Star Game, there’s so much to do in this community. There’s so many outdoor activities I think I know for our clientele that comes from around the world.”
The 76th edition of the NBA All-Star game will take place on February 21st, 2027.
