Timberwolves Extend Conley On 2 Year Deal

The Minnesota Timberwolves have reached an agreement with veteran guard Mike Conley on a new 2 year, $21M contract extension the club announced Monday.

Conley, who was slated to become a free agent at season’s end, will now be tied to the franchise through the 2025-26 campaign. Acquired at last season’s trade deadline from the Utah Jazz, the 36 year has appeared in 74 games with the T-Wolves, all of which have been starts.

Currently averaging 10.6pts/2.9reb/6.4ast per contest while shooting .444 from the field, Conley is hitting a career best 44.2% of his shots from beyond the arc this season in Minnesota.

At 39-16, Conley has been an integral part of Minnesota’s resurgence as the club currently occupies the top spot in the Western Conference at the All-Star break. Riding a 4 game winning streak, the T-Wolves have shown marked improvement in nearly every offensive category this season when compared to last.

Conley’s ability to play into the Timberwolves strengths, while minimizing turnovers has been a big reason for that turnaround. The veteran guard’s assist-to-turnover ratio ranks 2nd in the NBA, trailing only Washington’s Tyus Jones in that department.

With the former Ohio St. standout now extended, Minnesota has their core group of Conley, Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns, Naz Reid, Jordan McDaniels, and Rudy Gobert locked up for the foreseeable future.
