Blackhawks Sign Foligno To 2 Year Extension

The Chicago Blackhawks have signed veteran forward Nick Foligno to a 2 year extension valued at $9M the club announced via social media Friday.

The 36 year old was slated to become an unrestricted free agent at season’s end, but will now remain with the Hawks through the 2025-26 campaign. A large part of his role moving forward will be to provide veteran leadership to Chicago’s young core, which includes former number 1 overall pick Connor Bedard.

“The impact Nick has already had on our team in such a short time is a testament to his work ethic and dedication to helping the players around him succeed,” said Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson. “Hard-working on the ice, the energy he brings every night and his versatility to play in any situation have been tremendous assets. His leadership skills both on and off the ice have been instrumental in what we are building, and we are excited for him continue to push our team forward.”

Across 39 games with the Blackhawks this year, the 36 year old has registered 17 points (8G, 9A) for the rebuilding club. Currently on the injured reserve, nursing a hand injury sustained in a fight, Foligno will look to close in on the 1,200 games played mark at the NHL level as he presumably winds down his career in the Windy City.

Chicago is next in action on Saturday night in an 8pm ET showdown with the Dallas Stars.
