Arch Manning is one of the most hyped football prospects in years. And that popularity helped him fetch an eye popping $102,500 for his first trading card through Panini America’s website.
A 1 of 1 Prizm Black autographed card was auctioned off for charity, becoming the most expensive card sold through the platform in company history. The youngest Manning’s card narrowly edged out a 1 of 1 National Treasures Luka Doncic card, which previously held the record at an even $100K.
By hitting the 6 figure plateau, Arch’s card is also now officially the most expensive collegiate trading card of all time as well.
The sale is the first venture into Manning’s NIL deal since joining the University of Texas’ class of 2022. All proceeds of the sale will benefit a Central Texas non-profit group. The winning bid came from an anonymous source, but the winner will also get to take part in a meet and greet and catch passes from Manning at a future date.
In terms of the collectibles market, the plan now for the 18 year old QB is to run a collaborative print of trading cards, similar to what Trevor Lawrence and Chet Holmgren had produced as they rose through the collegiate ranks.
The son of Cooper Manning, Arch is the nephew of NFL icons Peyton and Eli Manning, and the grandson of longtime Saints QB Archie Manning. His prodigious passing totals, and All-Pro lineage made him the number 3 overall prospect in his draft class.
Given his age, and recent recruiting success that the Longhorns have had, it’s widely expected that Manning will be eased into the collegiate ranks. Former top prospect Quinn Ewers is expected to handle the majority of snaps under centre this season. The 6’2” signal caller is projected to be a 1st round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
