Interestingly, throughout his illustrious career at Duke, Krzyzewski turned down multiple opportunities to coach in the NBA. However, he did work closely with NBA players during his tenure as the coach of USA Basketball’s senior men’s team. His remarkable achievements in that role include an 88-1 record, three Olympic gold medals, two Basketball World Cup gold medals, and one gold in the FIBA AmeriCup.
While it may not be the return to coaching that hoops fans were hoping for, Krzyzewski’s new role as a special advisor will certainly bring a unique perspective to the league.
