Centre Boone Jenner will be placed on injured reserve with a fractured thumb according to a statement from the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Jenner, who currently has 22pts (11G, 11A) in 30 games played this season, is expected to miss four weeks with the injury.
The Blue Jackets captain, who has spent his entire 10 year NHL career with Columbus, was on pace for a career high in points prior to going down with the injury. Jenner is expected to undergo surgery on Tuesday to correct the issue.
Columbus, who currently sit last in the Metropolitan division at 10-18-2, can ill afford to lose their top goal scorer for a month, as they’re currently dealing with a rash of injuries to key players as it is.
Zach Werenski and Jakub Voracek are currently expected to miss the remainder of the season, while sophomore Cole Sillinger was also absent from Monday’s morning skate for an undisclosed reason.
According to reports, Sillinger isn’t expected to play Monday evening against Dallas, and is currently considered day to day after sustaining an injury in Saturday’s contest vs. Boston.
In a corresponding move, the Blue Jackets have recalled centre Josh Dunne from the Cleveland Monsters, the club’s AHL affiliate.
