Mitch Marner the Victim of a Carjacking in Toronto

According to multiple reports, Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner was the victim of a carjacking incident outside a movie theatre Monday night in Toronto.

Marner and his fiancee both escaped the incident without injury, however Police have said the mugging involved 3 suspects, two of which had handguns, while the third had a knife.

The Maple Leafs released a statement earlier this morning as well, confirming the incident which took place in Etobicoke:

While Marner and his fiancee were “shaken up”, they were both reportedly unharmed when police arrived. The suspects made off with Marner’s car, a black Range Rover, after approaching the Leafs’ forward wearing masks in a Cineplex parking lot.

It’s unclear whether the suspects were aware of who Marner was, or whether it was simply a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The incident is just one of several carjackings which have occurred in the area of late according to sources. Police are asking anyone with information to please reach out immediately.
