DraftKings Launches New NFT

Count DraftKings amongst those in the sports world who are throwing their hat into the NFT ring. The online sportsbook announced on Tuesday that they would be launching their “Primetime NFT Series” to capture some of the biggest moments in sports for fans around the world.

The venture will be an entirely in house product designed and developed by DraftKings, whose first series will be centred around College Basketball. Their 2022 College Hoops Collection will capture the biggest moments from this year’s March Madness tournament which kicks off this week.

“DraftKings is already deeply embedded within the biggest moments in sports, and the new Primetime NFT Series will further drive engagement while also providing rewards that bridge to our gaming offerings for the first time,” said Matt Kalish, Co-Founder and President of DraftKings North America. “Few times on the sports calendar can match the drama and spectacle of March’s college basketball tournament, which is why we chose this monthlong event to initiate this new digital collectibles program.”

The initial collection will feature 8 editions of the 2022 College Hoops series, as well as special 1 of 1 editions which will be auctioned off on the DraftKings marketplace. The company also plans to “drop” a special 9th collectible for those who manage to acquire all 8 NFTs throughout the tournament, which will also grant them priority access to future NFT launches.

Prices for the 8 collectibles range from $10-$200 with varying print runs for each item. The first two collectibles, titled “Going Dancin” and “Bubble Team” are set to drop on March 16th at 4 & 5pm ET respectively.
