The Indianapolis Colts have announced that they will be adding kicker Adam Vinatieri to the team’s ring of honour at a ceremony on October 18th.
Vinatieri, who played for the team from 2006 and 2019, will become the 21st member of the ring of honour as he adds yet another post-career accolade to his extensive list of accomplishments. The former Patriot owns NFL records for points (2,673) and field goals made (599), and at one point converted 44 consecutive fields between 2015-2016.
Across 24 seasons in the NFL, the now 53 year old converted 83.8% of his field goal attempts, and 97.3% of his extra point attempts. Vinatieri split his time between the Patriots (10 years) and Colts (14 years) and will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame later this year.
A 4x Super Bowl Champion, Viantieri went from an undrafted player out of South Dakota State to perhaps the greatest kicker the game has ever seen. The native of Yankton, SD was a 3x First Team All-Pro, and was named to the NFL’s All-Decade team for the 2000’s.
An owner of 8 different NFL records, Vinatieri is expected to be on site in Indianapolis on the 18th when the Colts take on the Tennessee Titans in an AFC South divisional showdown.
