Terrion Arnold Set For Hearing On Monday

In one of the more shocking offseason developments, Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold will have a hearing on Monday to determine whether he will remain in custody in the lead up to his trial. Arnold currently faces 4 counts of alleged kidnapping, and four counts of alleged armed robbery. If found guilty, he could be looking at a life sentence in prison.

Prosecutors allege that the 23 year old was a central figure in a violent kidnapping and armed robbery scheme stemming from the theft of more than $250,000 worth of property from an Airbnb he was staying at. Arnold surrendered to police on June 24th and is currently being held without bond at the Falkenburg Road Jail in Hillsborough County.

According to paperwork filed with the courts, he is set to appear at a hearing on Monday morning at 9:30am where the prosecution plans to argue that he should remain in jail pending trial.

The charges allege that Arnold and friends stayed at an Airbnb in Largo, FL between January 30th and February 1st. At some point, thieves made off with roughly $100K in cash, an $80K necklace, and several designer bags and electronic devices.

The prosecution will make the argument that rather than waiting for law enforcement to complete their investigation, that Arnold orchestrated a revenge plot on three individuals they believed to have been involved in the theft. The motion alleges that while the former 1st rounder was not present at the time of the assault, he was believed to have been watching remotely and giving instructions to the armed assailants who lured the victims to a Florida appartment.

Mixed reports suggest that Arnold may have later arrived on scene where the victims were being held. The State Attorney’s Office believes Arnold should remain jailed because the allegations demonstrate “a disregard for the safety of the community”.

Arnold has entered a plea of not guilty, and has enlisted the help of noted Denver area attorney Harvey Steinberg to represent him in the case.
