Steve Kerr Signs 2 Year Deal To Remain With Warriors

Steve Kerr has agreed to a new 2 year deal to remain with the Golden State Warriors on Saturday, reuniting the two sides for a 13th season on the west coast.

Kerr took his time this offseason, weighing his options as he deliberated returning to the sidelines in 2026-27. In the end, he opted to come back for another two years, possibly lining up a future retirement with that of Warriors star Stephen Curry.

While financial terms of the deal were not made public, multiple outlets reported that he will remain the highest paid coach in the NBA. Kerr made $17.5M this past season.

Golden State battled a myriad of injuries this past year, leading to a 37-45 record, and a play-in game elimination at the hands of the Phoenix Suns. After the game, Kerr told reporters “I still love coaching, but I get it…These jobs all have an expiration date. There is a run that happens, and when the run ends, sometimes it’s time for new blood and new ideas.”

Sporting a career 604-353 record, good for a .631 win percentage, the 60 year old has 4 championships as a coach (2015, 2017, 2018, 2022) and another 5 as a player (1996–1999, 2003). Kerr is about as good a lock to one day be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame as there is.

With the team’s coaching situation now resolved, the front office can turn their attention to the upcoming NBA Draft lottery where the Warriors will be hoping that the ping pong balls bounce their way in a loaded draft class.
