LIV Golf Signs Dustin Johnson To Multi-Year Extension

LIV Golf has announced the signing of Dustin Johnson to a new multi-year deal on Wednesday, locking up one of their top stars for the foreseeable future.

“I’m obviously very excited about this year,” Johnson said Tuesday during a news conference in Palm Beach, Florida. “I think we’re going to a couple new venues, and that’s exciting. Obviously, anytime we’re going to a new place, especially all the things I’m hearing about South Africa, it’s supposed to be amazing. We’ve got a ton of fans.”

News of the extension comes on the heels of the announcement that 5x major champion Brooks Koepka would be rejoining the PGA Tour via their new “returning member program”. Under the terms of the program, Koepka will be forfeiting FedEx Cup bonus money, signature event exemptions, and no access to the PGA Tour equity grants in order to return for the 2026 season.

Also leaving LIV Golf is former captain of the Iron Heads GC team, Kevin Na. However it wasn’t all doom and gloom on Wednesday, as LIV announced that Thomas Detry has joined the organization and will be added to the 4Aces roster. Officially ranked 58th in the world, Detry won the WM Phoenix Open by seven strokes last February.

“This team is built for big moments, and 2026 is a chance for us to take another step forward,” said Johnson in a press release on Wednesday. “Thomas Detry is a great addition; he’s confident, competitive, and that fits exactly what we’re about.

“We’ve got the talent, the chemistry, and the mindset to be right there all season.”

“There’s an amazing vibe around the 4Aces that you feel right away,” said Detry. “You can see they play with confidence, and there’s a definite swagger coming from all the guys… feeling like you belong on the biggest stages. That’s exactly the type of environment I want to be a part of.”

The Saudi backed league faced an uncertain future after several high profile players were reportedly mulling their future on the circuit. However in recent days Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau and Cam Smith have reportedly reiterated their commitment to LIV Golf.

Should any of the former PGA stars choose to join Koepka, they would need to formally accept the terms of the returning member program by February 2nd. DeChambeau is currently contracted through 2026 and appears to be willing to play out his deal, though his endorsement of the league has grown less enthusiastic over the last several months.

LIV will kick off its 2026 campaign at the Riyadh Golf Club in Saudi Arabia on February 4th.
