Atlético Ottawa Launches New Local Partnership

Atlético Ottawa of the Canadian Premier League (CPL) have announced the formal launch of a new youth partnership initiative, the Atlético Ottawa Juniors program.

The Atlético Ottawa Juniors (AOJ) will debut in 2026 after rebranding from Ottawa TFC following the conclusion of their partnership with MLS side Toronto FC. The AOJ will sport the traditional Atletico red and white jerseys, and will be linked to the CPL Champions through the 2030 campaign.

The club, which has a strong presence in the east end of town (Millennium Park in Orleans hosts thousands of players each season), will share resources with the CPL side and act as a talent identification, and development pipeline for the professional team.

“We are thrilled to see Atlético Ottawa Juniors become the first club in Ottawa to commit to amplifying Atlético Ottawa’s brand values, colours and name,” said Ron Palaczka, Chief Strategy Officer, Atlético Ottawa. “This is a reciprocal investment to grow the local soccer community in the spirit of open-minded and customized collaboration. Atlético Ottawa’s goal is to create robust pathways across the region, allowing aspiring players new avenues to achieve their goals. This is yet another step in that direction, and we thank Atlético Ottawa Juniors for their trust and commitment.”

The newly rebranded Atlético Ottawa Juniors feature a 3,000 member base, and run programs from the grassroots level to adulthood. Previously known as Ottawa TFC, the club opted for a local partnership when their agreement with the MLS outfit was up this winter. Ottawa TFC was the result of a merger between the Cumberland United and Capital United soccer clubs back in 2018.

“This first‑of‑its‑kind affiliation in Ottawa reflects a shared belief in community‑rooted, values‑driven player development,” said Pavel Cancura, General Manager, Atlético Ottawa Juniors. “Our culture-first approach aligns closely with Atlético Ottawa’s global philosophy, reinforcing a common vision for long‑term development and positive impact across the entire soccer community.”

The club also announced the collaborative creation of a new “reserve program” which will be the first of its kind in the National Capital Region. This program will serve as bridge of sorts between amateur and professional soccer in the Ottawa area.

Atlético Ottawa will next be in action on February 3rd in their first round matchup against Nashville SC in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
