The Montreal Victoire have announced that they are adding HHOF inductee Caroline Ouellette as an assistant coach on a full time basis.
Ouellette had previously acted as a part time assistant with the PWHL franchise as she was also the head coach for Concordia University’s women’s hockey team. This year however she will be joining the club in a full time role on head coach Kori Cheverie’s staff.
“I am extremely happy to continue my work with the Victoire. Danièle, Kori and the players have set a standard of excellence and I am happy to be able to contribute to it on a daily basis. We have a passionate and hard-working team and I am very much looking forward to starting our journey this season,” said Ouellette.
The 46 year old has extensive international experience, having won 4 Olympic gold medals as a player, and serving as an assistant coach for Team Canada at the Women’s World Championships on six different occasions. Ouellette will also be an assistant for Team Canada at the 2026 Winter Games as well.
“Caroline has provided us with valuable advice from the beginning, and we are delighted to be able to count on her full-time. Her experience, both on the ice and behind the bench, is a valuable asset to our organization, as well as to our coaching staff,” said Victoire general manager Danièle Sauvageau.
The Victoire have had successful regular season campaigns, but have stumbled in the PWHL playoffs in each of the last two years. In 2023-24 they were swept by Boston, and this past season lost 3-1 in their best of 5 series vs. Ottawa.
Montreal will feature a slightly retooled roster following the PWHL expansion draft, but will continue to feature fan favourites such as all-world forward Marie-Philip Poulin. Montreal, along with the rest of the PWHL teams, await the release of this year’s schedule which is expected sometime in October.
