Pogba Injured in Training

Manchester United could be without the services of star midfielder Paul Pogba for the next two months after he suffered a thigh injury earlier this week. Pogba reportedly felt discomfort in his thigh during a training session on Monday. While Manchester United has yet to conduct a full assessment of the injured area, Pogba has already withdrawn from team France activities as a precaution.

French medical personnel relayed that Pogba’s injury typically comes with a 6-8 week recovery timeline. In a statement posted to the Manchester United website, the French national team announced “Paul Pogba has suffered an injury to the quadriceps of the right thigh and is forced to miss the next two matches…To replace him, Didier Deschamps called on Jordan Veretout.”

The injury is another blow to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad which is currently mired in a 5-2-4 start to the season, good for 6th place. With increasing pressure from supporters and rumours of discontent in the locker room, Gunnar is suddenly on the hot seat to turn things around at Old Trafford.

Pogba is currently serving a 3 game suspension after picking up a red card in the team’s 5-0 loss to Liverpool. If the injury is as severe as French officials fear, it would sideline him until at least January.

Manchester United is next in action Saturday against Watford.
