Ottawa Senators Re-Sign Claude Giroux

Ottawa Senators Re-Sign Claude Giroux

The Ottawa Senators and veteran forward Claude Giroux have come to terms on a 1 year, $2M contract that is heavy on incentives to keep Giroux in the Nation’s Capital.

When all is said and done, the 37 year old will be eligible to receive up to $2.75M in potential bonuses if he reaches all escalators in his new deal. If Giroux appears in at least 50% of the playoff games in which Ottawa plays this season, then his full bonus breakdown is as follows:

-$250,000 each for 20, 30 and 60 games played
-$250,000 if Sens make the playoffs and he plays 50 games
-$500,000 if Sens win Round 1
-$250,000 if Sens win Round 2
-$500,000 if Sens win Round 3
-$500,000 if Sens win Stanley Cup

Originally drafted 22nd overall by the Philadelphia Flyers back in 2006, Giroux has 365 career goals and 1,116 points across 1,263 NHL games. Giroux has split between the Flyers, Florida Panthers, and Senators throughout his career.

Giroux has represented Canada internationally on multiple occasions and brings much needed veteran leadership to a young Senators roster heading into 2025-26.
