New Orleans Saints do-it-all player Taysom Hill will miss the remainder of the 2024 NFL campaign after suffering a torn ACL in the team’s 21-14 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
Hill appeared to take a helmet to the left knee before falling awkwardly to the ground late in the game while running for a 1st down. Training staff eventually called for a cart to help the tight-end off the field, with head coach Darren Rizzi confirming what many feared on Monday.
Prior to going down, Hill led the team with 5 catches for 37 yards, while also carrying the ball 5 times for 10 yards as he continued his Swiss-army knife style offensive usage. That usage however has come at a cost, as Hill has reportedly been playing with a bruised lung, and cracked ribs for most of the season.
He’s also missed several games this season due to a variety of injuries, notably in week 2 and week 8 of the season. Nevertheless, Hill has been an integral part of the Saints offence, especially in the team’s 35-14 victory over the Cleveland Browns where he punched in 3 TD’s on the ground, including a 75 yard scamper to go along with 8 receptions.
New Orleans currently sits 4-8, and are well outside the playoff picture at the moment. The team is next in action on Sunday December 8th against the New York Giants in a 1pm ET matchup.
