Chiefs Finalizing Deal To Acquire DeAndre Hopkins

According to multiple reports, the Kansas City Chiefs are in the final stages of a deal that would see the team land former Pro Bowl WR DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans.

Heading back the other way is believed to be a conditional 4th round pick, with the trade expected to be officially announced Wednesday afternoon.

The 12 year NFL veteran is currently in his final season of a 2 year contract he signed with the Titans, but has struggled to put up offensive numbers in his team’s conservative offensive scheme. A 5x Pro Bowler, Hopkins has also had stops in Houston and Arizona prior to joining Tennessee.

The deal gives the Chiefs a proven pass catcher as they continue to navigate a season which has seen multiple injuries to their wide receiver group. Hollywood Brown, and Rashee Rice are both currently down with injuries, which led to the team adding Juju Smith-Schuster midseason.

However, following blockbuster deals which saw Amari Cooper join the Buffalo Bills and Davante Adams join the New York Jets, the KC front office clearly felt as though their group could use another weapon for QB Patrick Mahomes.

Across 6 games this season Hopkins has caught 15 passes for 173 yards and 1 TD. He’ll join a WR group that also features Xavier Worthy, Justin Watson, and Smith-Schuster.

The 6-0 Chiefs travel to Las Vegas on October 27th for an AFC West divisional showdown.
