Only a day removed from Patrick Surtain II’s record setting contract, the Miami Dolphins made Jalen Ramsey the highest paid Cornerback in NFL history.
Ramsey and the Dolphins front office came to terms Friday on a 3 year extension valued at $24.1M per season. The deal, which features $55.3M in guaranteed money, narrowly eclipses the $24M AAV pact which Surtain signed earlier this week.
The 29 year old’s deal kicks in this season and will mark the second time in his career in which he’s been the league’s top earning CB.
Ramsey, who is currently nursing a calf injury, and his camp had been negotiating a new deal with Miami for several weeks now. However discussions kicked into overdrive once Surtain’s contract became official, with a final figure being agreed to shortly thereafter.
Despite the calf injury, the Dolphins believe Ramsey will be ready to play in the team’s season opener on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Across 10 NFL games in 2023, Ramsey had 5 passes defended to go along with 3 interceptions and 22 tackles.
