Steelers CB Cameron Sutton Suspended 8 Games

Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Cameron Sutton was suspended 8 games by the NFL for violating the league’s personal conduct policy this week.

The issue stems from a previous misdemeanour battery charge from a pending domestic violence case in which Sutton was involved. After being wanted by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in Florida for several weeks, the 29 year old eventually turned himself in on March 31st.

Sutton has reportedly entered a pretrial diversion program, however an NFL investigation into the matter determined that he had violated terms of the league’s personal conduct policy. The former 3rd round pick does not plan to appeal the 8 game suspension issued by the league on Monday.

At the time of the incident, Sutton was a member of the Detroit Lions organization. However, Detroit subsequently released the defensive back after learning of the warrant issued for his arrest. He was one year into a 3 year, $33M contract signed back in 2023.

After being released, Sutton signed a 1 year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, a team he’s very familiar with, having spent the first 6 seasons of his NFL career with the franchise.

Sutton will be eligible to return on Tuesday, October 29th following Pittsburgh’s Week 8 game against the New York Giants. His suspension will be served without pay.
