The Philadelphia Eagles will be without top WR A.J. Brown for their Monday night playoff game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the team announced.
Brown is believed to have injured his knee in the 1st quarter of his team’s Week 18 loss to the New York Giants after he and Nick McCloud went to the turf attempting to recover a fumble. After heading to the medical tent, Brown was quickly ruled out and sent back to the locker room.
“It was going to be a stretch for A.J. to play,” headcoach Nick Sirianni said Saturday as the team released its updated injury reports. “He did everything he possibly could to get himself ready. He fought like crazy to try and do everything he could do.”
According to reports, the 26 year old has made significant progress is his recovery, and has a genuine shot to play next week should the Eagles advance past the Bucs. The former Tennessee Titan finished with 1,456 yards receiving, on 106 catches in 2023. His 7 TD’s were tied with Devonta Smith for the team lead, while his 85.6 yards per game were tops amongst the Philadelphia receiver room.
The one bit of good news that Eagles fans received was that QB Jalen Hurts will suit up Monday night following a finger injury of his own suffered against New York. Hurts was a full participant in Friday’s practice despite being at less than 100%.
Hurts’ middle finger on his right hand appeared to bounce off a Giants defender as he was making a throw in week 18.
The Eagles travel to Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on Monday for an 8pm ET showdown with the NFC South winning Buccaneers.
