Jurgen Klopp Eyes Sofyan Amrabat

Jürgen Klopp eyes Amrabat for his midfield

Morocco are making history in this FIFA World Cup. The Africans, who were leaders of their group, eliminated Spain in dramatic fashion before downing Portugal to secure a semi-final spot in the tournament. Among Hakimi, Ziyech, and Boufal, the midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has been named as one of the key players of the Atlas Lions in the tournament, and has attracted the attention of several European clubs.

According to reports, Liverpool are weighing the possibility of sending an offer to add the 26-year-old midfielder to their squad next January. It’s also been reported that the player’s staff have already met Jürgen Klopp to discuss a possible transfer move and the meeting was considered positive by both sides.

“According to our information, the entourage of Sofyan Amrabat has already met with the coach of Liverpool Jürgen Klopp, eager to strengthen his midfield for the second part of the busy season to come,” wrote reporter Saint Aouna. “The meeting between the two parties was positive, and they have planned to meet again after the World Cup 2022. For the moment, the 26-year-old player is focused on his World mission with the Atlas Lions.”

Apart from Liverpool, the information from Actu Foot states that Tottenham and Inter Milan are also interested in acquiring Fiorentina’s midfielder, and they could be potential competitors for Klopp´s side.

“According to our sources, Tottenham, but also Inter Milan in Italy, are following his contractual situation with attention, as well as other clubs of the English elite, ready to dislodge him from the Viola, which has an option of extension of one more year,” Aouna explained.

The possible offers from Premier League clubs are well appreciated by Amrabat, as the midfielder has long dreamed of playing in the tournament. In this year’s world cup, he is one of the leaders of this Morocco’s historic squad and has entirely played the four games the Atlas Lions were involved in throughout the tournament. According to the website Transfermarkt, his net worth is currently hovering around €10 million which is likely to increase once the tournament is over.
