Baltimore Ravens quarterback Tyler “Snoop” Huntley is set to miss the remainder of the NFL season with a turf toe injury on his right foot that will require surgery. Huntley was injured in the 2nd quarter of his team’s 36-10 loss to Buffalo on the weekend.
With Lamar Jackson dealing with a thumb injury of his own, that leaves just undrafted rookie QB Joe Fagnano as the lone healthy body in the Ravens QB room these days. And even that assessment may be generous as Fagnano has been spotted wearing a brace on his right ankle during practice this week as well.
Between Fagnano, Kedon Slovis, and Austin Reed, the entire quarterback tree in Baltimore has combined for 44 total snaps at the NFL level to date. With a short week, and a date against the division leading Jaguars on tap, the Ravens offence could have their hands full trying to piece together a passable air attack tomorrow night.
Fagnano was 10 for 21 for 91 yards and a pick against Buffalo after being thrust into action unexpectedly on the weekend. The former UConn Husky appeared in 12 games in 2025, completing 69% of his passes for 3,448 yards and 28 TDs. He led the conference in completions, attempts, completion percentage, passing yards, passing TDs, and yards per game in his final season.
Baltimore elevated Reed from their practice squad on Monday, while Slovis was signed off the Packers practice squad on Tuesday. All in all, it means that none of the three quarterback options currently have much (if any) familiarity with the team’s first team offence at the moment.
With Huntley now confirmed to be out for the remainder of the season, and Jackson set to miss a good chunk of time as well, Thursday figures to be a “do or die” moment for the young QB. If he puts together a strong performance, it’s possible Baltimore’s front office looks to ride the hot hand and see how far he can take them. If Thursday is a dud across the board, one has to assume that the club will be forced to either swing a trade, or scour the free agent market to bring in a veteran option under centre.
Baltimore will have an extended break following Thursday’s contest as they won’t be back in action until the Monday nighter the following week. That layoff figures to either give the club time to further immerse Fagnano into their system, or to onboard a free agent addition.
Kickoff on Thursday is set for 8:15pm ET.
