The Indianapolis Colts appear to be continuing their firesale as reports out of the area suggest that the team’s front office is now willing to listen to offers on star running back Jonathan Taylor.
Since news first broke, multiple teams have reached out to the Colts to gauge their asking price. It’s believed that the Broncos, Packers, Vikings, Giants, and Seahawks are amongst the teams who have expressed interest in the 27 year old. The asking price for Taylor is believed to be at least a 2nd round pick plus additional compensation, and it’s believed that at least one of the clubs above have met that threshold in initial talks.
Sources close to the Colts believe that the team is looking for a similar package to the one Carolina received for Christian McCaffrey back in 2022. San Francisco gave up a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th round pick to acquire the former All-Pro and saw immediate returns on their investment as the team became a powerhouse atop the NFC West.
With Taylor having already received his signing bonus before the season began, any team acquiring his services would receive him for the balance of his 2026 salary, $15M in 2027, and $9.46M in 2028. His contract effectively keeps him under team control through his age 30 season in the league.
Indianapolis have already traded Pro Bowlers Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner, and remain active in discussions around other pieces such as WR Josh Downs. Prior to news of the club’s stance on their willingness to move Taylor becoming public, the team had indicated that the 3x Pro Bowler would handle his usual workload this weekend against the Jaguars. However, it will be interesting to see if that holds true as talks intensify over the next 24 hours.
