Embattled cornerback Terrion Arnold, who is currently facing multiple felony charges, is planning to sign a 1 year deal with the Seattle Seahawks.
Arnold was released by the Detroit Lions earlier this summer after he was allegedly tied to a kidnapping and robbery plot in Tampa Bay, FL. The 23 year old was arrested in Hillsborough County this past June but was granted bail without an ankle monitor, allowing him to take part in football related activities.
As of yet, no trial date has been set, though Arnold’s next scheduled court date is a disposition hearing set for October the 5th.
The former first round pick from the 2024 NFL Draft visited the Texans, Saints, and Giants before ultimately choosing the Seahawks. While he would be a massive addition to an already stingy Seahawks defence, his availability remains murky at best.
Not only could the corner be facing multiple years in prison if convicted, even in the best case of scenarios where there is no jail time, Arnold is likely to be put on the Commissioner’s exempt list which would prevent him from playing or practicing with the team. To date, the NFL has remained mum on the situation, opting to give the usual generic “let the legal process play out” answers.
The Seahawks currently feature Devon Witherspoon and Josh Jobe as their two starting corners. Behind them, Noah Igbinoghene and Nehemiah Pritchett are currently in a training camp battle for the number 3 job. The defending Super Bowl champions let defensive back Riq Woolen leave in free agency, paving the path for regular snaps for Arnold if he’s fully cleared to play.
Asked about Arnold’s availability given his current legal situation, head coach Mike Macdonald said, “I think we understand that anything is kind of on the table, and that’s where we’re at in the process.”
“It’s enough right now that we had him in for a great visit, a great tryout,” he said. “It’s a situation where there’s other things that are surrounding it. We’re aware of that. But we’re working through the situation right now. But it was a great visit. I really enjoyed meeting him, and I think he enjoyed being here, so we’ll see where it goes.”
The former Crimson Tide standout was limited to just 8 games in 2025 due to a lingering shoulder injury. He would eventually undergo surgery to correct the issue and is reportedly now back to 100% health. Across 24 career games he has 1 INT and 18 passes defended.
The Seahawks are reportedly doing their due diligence with the NFL head office to see if they can gain any additional insight into Arnold’s future before announcing the deal officially.
