The Jacksonville Jaguars and tight end Brenton Strange have come to terms on a new 3 year deal worth up to $48M the club announced Wednesday.
The new pact will feature $25M in guaranteed money, and features several performance based incentives built into the deal. The Penn State product caught 46 passes for 540 yards and 3 TDs across 12 games last season, and was a focal point of Jacksonville’s offensive scheme.
According to reports out of Jacksonville, the team felt the impact of losing Strange for 5 games last season and were keen to lock him up prior to the start of the season. The 25 year old was preparing to enter the final season of his rookie contract.
Across 3 seasons, Strange has caught 91 passes for 986 yards and 6 touchdowns. A 6’4″, 253lbs red zone target, Strange flourished under first year head coach Liam Coen’s in 2025, setting career highs in virtually every offensive category.
Despite losing in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, Jacksonville flipped their 4-13 record in 2024 to finish atop the AFC South with a 13-4 record last year. The Jags finished with the 11th most yards per game in the league with 337.4, despite having just the 20th best rushing game in the league.
Jacksonville figures to have a slightly reconfigured offence this season with Bhayshul Tuten likely to be their RB1, and top draft pick Travis Hunter allegedly set to play a larger role on defence than on offence. That figures to solidify Brian Thomas Jr, Jakobi Meyers, Parker Washington, and Strange as the team’s primary pass catchers this fall.
The team will open their preseason with games against the Saints, Panthers, and Buccaneers before kicking things off officially on September 13th against the Cleveland Browns.
