According to reports, NFL owners are expected to officially ratify Nashville as the host of Super Bowl LXIV on Tuesday which will take place in 2030.
If true, it would mark the first time that the Super Bowl has been held in the city, and would coincide with the Titans moving into their new stadium in 2027. Venues are approved via the NFL’s board of governors at their annual spring league meetings. The two day event kicks off tomorrow in Orlando, FL.
The next several locations for the Super Bowl have been set for some time now. This year, SoFi Stadium will play host to Super Bowl LXI. This will then be followed by Atlanta in 2028, and Las Vegas in 2029, though the latter is also subject to ratification on Tuesday as well.
Tennessee is preparing to move into their new $2.1B stadium on the east bank of the Cumberland River in 2027, giving them 3 years to “work out the kinks” before the league’s biggest event rolls into town. The league awarded the city of Nashville the rights to host the 2019 NFL Draft as the city has become a hot spot tourist destination in recent years.
League insiders have speculated that the NFL was reluctant to give Nashville a major event like the Super Bowl due to the city’s lack of an indoor facility. But with the team seemingly solving that problem when they relocate to their new home, the Titans suddenly became an intriguing option for the board of governors once again.
That notion was seemingly reinforced last November when Roger Goodell stated “The one thing that was missing is the stage,” he said while alluding to the Titans’ future home. “And I think now, you’re building a great stage. We have a process, but I have every expectation that we’re going to see that type of thing in the future.”
A formal announcement regarding the location of Super Bowl LXIV is expected to take place later this week.
